A study tour took place in Osona (Province of Barcelona) the following day to discuss and explore with their peers strategies and good practices for the implementation and monitoring of existing SEAPs.
The Local Energy Agency of Osona depends on the County Council of Osona, a Local Authority, and its aim is to help municipalities managing energy consumption, promoting renewable energy sources and improving energy efficiency. The Agency works mainly for Town councils, but also with the private sector (citizens and enterprises). As of today it collaborated with 49 municipalities, providing energy accounting through a specific software. Though analyzing results from the accounting, the Agency advises Local Authorities on how to reduce energy consumption andenergy costs. The Agency also manages public lighting, and develops specific projects, such as “Unplugg yourself”. It cooperates with other services (i.e.social services in tackling fuel poverty), and it advises and gives technical support to Local Authorities on RES development. Part of the savings obtained thanks to this management is returned to the budget of the Local Energy Agency.
