A network of sustainable ENERGY supporting structures FOR the Covenant of MAYORS: the first project actively supporting Covenant Supporters and Coordinators - reaching the EU climate and energy goals by involving European cities and towns in sustainable energy planning, reducing energy consumption and increasing the share of renewable energy sources (RES). The 50000&1 SEAPs project provides a coherent approach to integrating Energy Management Systems (EnMS) with Sustainable Energy Action Plans (SEAPs) according to energy management standards such as ISO50001. It aims to help municipalities overcome the barriers blocking institutionalisation of their action plans and reinforce internal structures and procedures for high-quality, long-term, energy policy and planning. Covenant capaCITY takes up the urgent challenge to develop more sustainable energy communities (SEC) across Europe through offering a comprehensive European capacity building programme for local governments to support all the phases of implementing a Sustainable Energy Action Plan (SEAP) – from motivation, planning, implementation, to monitoring and evaluating. An inclusive peer-to-peer approach to involve EU CONURBations and wide urban:helping medium-large cities and the smaller towns in their urban area using peer-to-peer support and training between less and more experienced municipalities. Read more.
The project is addressing the contribution of local communities to the achievement of the objective for EU’s decarbonisation and aims to support local administrations to overcome existing obstacles and effectively implement the set measures on the way to energy efficient cities and regions. Green Partnerships will connect cities and regions from 11 MED countries that will overcome the obstacles by establishing a common transnational approach with focus on creating local partnerships which will contribute to more efficient implementation of innovative EE and RES solutions leading to sustainable local and regional development.
